(Spoiler: One of these guys is probably on this list. PicProps: MMA Bay)Obviously, it’s a fool’s errand to try to predict the future; just ask all those people who invested heavily in HD DVD instead of BluRay. Here at the Potato, however, we’re nothing if not risk-takers and with a large portion of our tried and true Cage Heroes either retired (Chuck), mired in slumps (BJ) or just living on borrowed time (Randy, Matt), we began to wonder this week: Who will carry the banner of MMA greatness into the next generation? In light of that, we present this list of CP’s Top 10 fighters under 25 years old.
First, a note on our methods: We compiled this group using a super-scientific algorithm that considers age, experience, potential and what Dan Severn might call “brawlability.” Seriously, we’d explain it in more detail, but you wouldn’t understand. Let’s just say graphing calculators were involved. Also, for utility’s sake, the list is restricted to fighters competing in major organizations (mostly the UFC, as it turns out) as well as dudes who are 24 and under. Sorry, Phil Davis.
Anyhow, here are our selections of 10 fighters who could be making noise for the next, oh, 20 years or so …

Seth Petruzelli is expected to welcome former heavyweight Karlos Vemola to 205-pounds as the light heavyweights look for their first UFC wins when the square off at “UFC 122: Belfort vs. Okami” on November 13 in Oberhausen, Germany, MMAjunkie reports.
Petruzelli (12-5) dominated his UFC return over Ricardo Romero in July but was forced to tap to a second-round armbar to snap The Ultimate Fighter 2 castmember’s four-fight win streak, which included a 14-second TKO of Kimbo Slice.
After winning seven-straight in England to start his career, the Czech Vemola (7-1) dropped a unanimous decision to Jon Madsen in his UFC debut at July’s UFC 116.
The UFC 122 fight card, which airs on tape-delay on Spike TV, is headlined by middleweight contenders Vitor Belfort vs. Yushin Okami.

And is there any chance "The Heat" can become a contender again in today's UFC welterweight division?
"Somehow I knew I'd get back in, at least I hoped I would. What Dana said was in the heat of the moment. He felt we were friends and that I'd backstabbed him. Thank God he changed his mind. He told me to get a fight under my belt. He told me to get my life back on track and that's what I did. My issues had to do with my anxiety problems and panic attacks. Painkillers were thrown out there, but that wasn't it. People made these accusations because I'd been popped for medication (months before). I'd taken two pain pills the morning of my fight for a torn hamstring and didn't think much of it. Every fighter I know takes pain medication like it's M&Ms. I was the unlucky one who only took it the day of the fight without even thinking about it. I think the UFC knows I still have something I can accomplish in the cage. They know that I can become a contender again and I will."
Despite a lifetime ban from UFC President Dana White following multiple infractions, former welterweight standout Karo Parisyan is getting another shot at UFC stardom after a successful return against Ben Mortimer under the Impact FC banner in Australia last July. The Armenian tells Sherdog.com that he's been able to overcome -- or at least contain -- the pre-fight anxiety attacks that led to his Octagon troubles in the past. Are fans convinced he's on the level? And can he fight his way back into contention in one of the sport's deepest divisions?

A light heavyweight bout between Stephan Bonnar and Igor Pokrajac has been booked for The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale on December 4 in Las Vegas, according to ESPN’s Jon Anik.
Bonnar (12-7), the runner-up on the original season of The Ultimate Fighter, snapped a three-fight losing streak with a second-round TKO of Krzysztof Soszynski in the “Fight of the Night” at July’s UFC 116.
Pokrajac (22-7) kept his UFC career alive when he rebounded from back-to-back UFC losses with a first-round submission of James Irvin at UFC on Versus 2 in August.
The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale fight card airs live on Spike TV and features the finals of the upcoming season’s lightweight tournament.
